Hympala is a dynamic hub where creativity, innovation and community come together in the heart of the Belgian streetwear scene. They started as a small shop focused on trainers and lifestyle and have grown into a fantastic space in Hasselt that fully embodies Hympala's values while offering a unique and memorable shopping experience.

Our role: strategic floor plan + look & feel
Our approach: We were immediately on board with the vibe Hympala was looking for for their new shop. The move to a more spacious tighter and smaller, but mostly outdated premises presented a lot of challenges. The analysis of Hympala as a brand, the product range and the committed community behind the brand could be completed quickly and successfully thanks to the bold and progressive vision of the managers.
The first objective was to use their collections and new shop to tell a powerful story that would stand out not only on the streets but also throughout the Benelux. Due to some limitations of the outdated premises, it was decided not to use part of the shop for sales, but only to set it up as storage space.
Afterwards, our experts started analysing the shop premises and were able to create a spatial layout that promotes optimal flow and accessibility. By strategically placing different eye-catchers at the front, centre and back of the shop, attractive walking routes were developed that allow us to thoughtfully respond to various buying motivations.
Emphasising the dynamic atmosphere through views into the shop, overlooking an area reserved exclusively for art installations and temporary collections, significantly enhances the brand image. The checkout area, for which we also recommended a space for a bar and DJ, acts as the central point in the shop. This is where music, taste and colour come together, literally bringing the community Hympala is building around the table.
The choice of industrial materials and tools as eye-catchers, building racks as shop shelves and raw wall finishes reflects the authenticity, flexibility, adventurous nature and sustainability that Hympala stands for. The interconnection of the racks also creates a strong, intuitive flow, guiding (or rather enticing) customers unconsciously throughout the shop.
The colour palette consists of a white canvas with striking cobalt blue accents (reflected in the façade, ceiling, fitting rooms and communication) combined with the already present warm wooden floor. On top of that, the colours, prints, textures and striking quotes of the collections (also designed in-house) are very powerful and embody the essence of Hympala.
