In recent years, the Retail Design Lab has had the privilege of advising many retailers from a wide range of sectors on the elaboration of their strategic floor plans and look & feel. Each time, bearing in mind the retailer’s needs and wishes (and actually more specifically those of its target customer(s)), our scientific service offered to optimize the function and experience of the new/renovated store, showroom, as well as all its associated functions.
The collaboration always begins with the completion of our design brief document. Based on this fill-in-the-blank questionnaire, an ideal routing for various customer motivations is proposed. This is directly implemented onto the store layout also integrating the placement of the different product groups. Indeed, we conduct extensive research to draw a clear store plan indicating the location of each of the retailer’s product group/category. This is then complemented by a routing plan for each of the predefined “persona” or customer motivation, as well as details on product density (determined by the heights of shelves, walls, etc.).
